How you spend your time away from work is just as valuable as the time you spend at work.
Taking that crucial time you need AND deserve
Too many men these days are burning themselves out in the name of hustle culture. I get it, you want success, you want to be the best, you want to provide, but listen up: if
you don’t take time to recharge your batteries, you’re not doing yourself—or anyone around you—any favors.
Time off is not a luxury. It’s a necessity for a high-value man who wants to show up strong, energized, and ready to dominate life. Here’s the deal: your body and your mind aren’t machines. You are a man, and that means you’ve got limits.
Chronic stress will wreck you. It’ll tank your energy, kill your motivation, and even mess with your
testosterone levels. You can’t be the best version of yourself if you’re constantly running on fumes. That’s why real winners know when to push and when to pause. You work hard, you earn your rest, and you use that time to level up in other areas of life.
When the weekend hits, you shouldn’t be glued to your couch binge-watching shows all day. That’s lazy guy behavior. Time off should be intentional and
rejuvenating. Think about it like this: you’ve got 48 hours to reset your mind, sharpen your body, and fuel your spirit. Use it wisely and you’ll crush your week ahead like a damn champion.
First off,
movement is medicine. Hit the gym, go for a long run, or even a hike in nature. You want your time off to help your body recover, not deteriorate. I always tell my guys—active relaxation is the best relaxation. Moving your body will pump up your endorphins, reduce stress, and keep you feeling like a man who’s in control of his life.
Second, do something fun that’s got absolutely nothing to do with work.
Whether it’s a pickup basketball game, playing guitar, working on your car, or cooking an insane meal—pursue a hobby that brings you joy. Fun isn’t childish, it’s therapeutic. It reignites your creative spark and makes you more productive when you go back to the grind.
Next up, social connection. You need strong relationships to stay balanced. Grab a beer with your buddies, take your wife or girlfriend on a
date, or have a family dinner. Time off is the perfect opportunity to nurture those bonds that get neglected during the workweek. A man with solid relationships is more grounded, happier, and more fulfilled—period.
Here’s a big one—disconnect from technology. That means putting the phone down and stepping away from your computer. A lot of men don’t realize how much digital overload fries their brains. Go offline for a few hours, get some fresh air, and watch your mental clarity come back stronger than ever. You can’t be present in life if you’re scrolling TikTok every five
minutes.
I’m also a huge fan of getting outside your comfort zone on weekends. Try new things. Go to that weird yoga class, take a spontaneous road trip, or learn how to surf. When you experience new things, you stimulate your brain, you expand your mindset, and you become a more interesting, well-rounded man. Comfort zones are the enemy of growth, gentlemen.
Now, if
you really want to level up your time off, use part of it to reflect and plan. I’m not saying get stuck in work mode, but take a few quiet minutes to think about your goals, where you’re headed, and how you’re feeling about life. Journaling, meditating, or just having a good think with a cup of coffee can do wonders for your clarity and purpose.
Lastly—don’t let guilt creep in. A lot of men feel like if they’re not grinding 24/7 they’re failing. That’s a lie. Smart, successful men rest strategically because they know it makes them better performers. Time off is not wasted time. It’s the reload your brain and body need to go back into battle fresh and focused.
Taking time off is one of the smartest moves a man can make for his health, happiness, and long-term success. Use your weekends to fuel your body, connect with people you care about, explore your passions, and reset your mind. You’ll come back to work more powerful, more productive, and more fulfilled.
Gentlemen,
life isn’t just about work—it’s about building yourself into the best, most badass version possible. Work hard, yes, but play hard and rest smart. You deserve it, you’ve earned it, and it’s a crucial part of living like an Alpha Male.
