Always another shocking development or crisis brewing — don't let it steal your peace.
Crisis Brewing: Informed vs Emotionally Hijacked
Have you noticed that every time you open your phone, it feels like the world is on fire? There’s always a breaking news banner, a “shocking development,” some secret plot, some crisis brewing in the background. It’s like the entire
planet is one giant emergency alert system. And if you’re not careful, you start living like you’re one notification away from total collapse.
Here’s the deal. The world has always been full of secrets: governments, corporations, backroom deals, and power plays — that’s not new. What’s new is that you’ve got a 24/7 feed pumping it straight into your brain. And the media? Their job isn’t to make you
calm and confident. Their job is to get your attention, and nothing grabs attention like fear.
But let me ask you something. When you shut your phone off, when you step outside, when you go to the gym, kiss your wife, walk your dog — is your world actually on fire? Or
is it mostly… fine? That’s the disconnect. There’s the global narrative, and then there’s your actual life.
Now, I’m not saying bury your head in the sand. You should know what’s going on, vote, and be informed. But there’s a massive difference between being informed and being emotionally hijacked. And a lot of guys don’t realize they’re addicted to outrage and anxiety because it makes them feel
engaged.
Here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear: the vast majority of what’s “brewing in the background” does not impact your day-to-day existence. It feels urgent, personal and like you need to stress about it. But in reality? Your biggest wins and losses today are going to come from your habits, your attitude, and your effort — not a headline.
Your life is your own to cultivate. It’s like a garden. You can’t control the weather in another country or the storms on the horizon. But you can control what you plant, what you water, and what you pull out by the roots. If you’re constantly dumping fear into your
mental soil, don’t be surprised when anxiety is what grows.
The media thrives on worst-case scenarios. “Impending doom” is clickable. Calm progress? Not so much. But your growth — your body, your business, your relationships — that happens in the quiet. It happens when you show up consistently. It happens when you focus on what’s in front of you instead of what might happen someday.
The world can absolutely be a scary place with seemingly increasing injustice, conflict, and uncertainty. I’m not minimizing that. But you don’t create safety by marinating in fear. You create safety by strengthening yourself -- mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially. That’s power.
Optimism isn’t ignorance. It’s discipline and choosing to believe that you can build something meaningful even if the background noise is chaotic. It’s waking up and saying, “Today, I’m going to move the needle in my own life,” instead of doom-scrolling until
your motivation evaporates.
Create your own pocket of peace. Seriously! Curate your inputs, limit your news consumption, and spend more time reading books that build you instead of headlines that break you. Train your body, work on your craft, call your parents, and be kind to strangers. These micro-choices create macro stability.
Kindness, calm, and confidence are contagious. When you show up grounded and optimistic, you change the energy in a room. You become the guy who isn’t rattled every time the news cycle spins. That’s leadership, maturity, and strength.
At the end of the day, the world will always have secrets, and there will always be emergencies. But your mission is not to carry the weight of the entire planet. Your mission is to cultivate your life. Protect your mindset, build your future, and stay informed — but stay focused. Because while the headlines scream, your real life is waiting for you to show up and live
it.
