Masturbation (aka hanging out with Big Al and the Twins) is a normal, natural physical function, but unfortunately, social stigma is associated with it, which has led to numerous masturbation myths. So would it surprise you to know that I receive approximately 10+ emails per week that deal with this subject? Some dudes are seriously
stressed out because they fear that they're doing permanent damage to themselves & their bodies due to excessive personal pleasure.
Masturbation has been around from the beginning of time. Ever since the first caveman walked this earth, he was pleasuring himself like, "Yo, check it out. If I do this, it results in that. And I like this!" Well, unfortunately, society and religion have placed some stigmas on masturbation and associated shame with it.
The truth is that masturbation is totally normal and natural -- nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, I'd like to go over some of the masturbation myths so you dudes out there who are concerned can have your minds put to ease.
MYTH #1 is that excessive masturbation will cause blindness. This is 100% incorrect. Remember this: many of these myths started back when sex was meant just for procreation. There wasn't any ‘funny business’ just because it felt great. Anything sexual outside of procreation was viewed as bad, so they scared people by saying they’d go blind. Ultimately no one went blind, although I am sure a
few guys were deterred from masturbating excessively.
MYTH #2 is that masturbation will cause erectile dysfunction (ED). Again, this is absolutely 100% false.
MYTH #3 is that if you’re in a relationship, you don’t have a need to masturbate and shouldn’t. Research data shows that 92% of all men still masturbate regardless of their relationship status. The problem is that people feel as if masturbation is a form of cheating. People have varying degrees of sex drive and desire, so just because you’re going to take care of yourself doesn’t mean it’s unhealthy or abnormal... or cheating! There is no reason for jealousy as it’s
healthy regardless of relationship status.
MYTH #4 is that no health benefit results from masturbating. This is false because health benefits result from masturbating: relaxation, less stress, better sleep, clearer skin, and a healthier prostate.
MYTH #5 is a BIG ONE. I get more emails about this myth than any other. The myth is that you can masturbate too much. You really can't – unless you make yourself sore. If you miss out on daily activities like work or school, then that's not good. But the vast majority of people can handle 2, 3, 4, 5, or even 6 times a day if they want to. Just make sure you take care of your business in other areas, and it won't become a problem.
MYTH #6 is that you’ll grow hair on your palms or lose your hair. These are 100% false.
So there you have it. Guys are concerned about this topic, and I just want to let you know that you have no reason to feel ashamed. There's nothing wrong with masturbating – it’s totally natural, normal, and healthy. Everybody's doing it – dad, grandpa, your uncle, your brother. It’s just the fact, and this is the way it is. There's
nothing wrong with you or masturbating.
